--- In a Nutshell... ---
My research focuses on organic semiconductors and conducting polymers for future-emerging sensing applications to rival the abilities of our own senses: With two aims, studying their intrinsic sensitivity for chemistry and molecules to enable such a concept as an integrated electronic nose, and unraveling their potential for evolutionary electronics as a bioinspiration for tomorrow's microelectronic manufacturing.
--- Low Energy and High Complexity... ---
Chemistry is the crossroads between physics and biology, explaining how some molecules interact by sharing bonds, or transform to new molecules by breaking and forming new bonds. Unlike the physical processes required to shape materials in microelectronics, biochemistry enables life to evolve and adapt by taking a minimal amount of resources available locally in the environment. Electrochemistry allows us to control chemistry with electricity, even producing conducting polymers from a few molecules and energy by simply applying voltage to electrodes: it is the field which could pave the way to evolutionary electronics to mimick adaptability of biological systems.
